Comments from the Author...

I had no idea what would happen when I started writing Angel of The Maya ...which happens a lot to me! I eagerly await each chapter to see what will happen next.

Stories evolve as if told by another—merely being scribed by me. I love entering this fascinating world of people I sometimes meet in ‘real’ life. Here are a few selections I chose seemingly at random. After reading each excerpt, listen to what ran through my mind..and compare notes.

May you love life and enjoy this book as no other. ~ Ruth Lee

Another reason why you love Angel of The Maya ...You can open it to any page and get a ‘mini reading’ that causes you to pause and enjoy what is going on around you now and always.

Excerpts From: Angel of The Maya

Excerpt 1, from Page 233—

donkey

Within a minute of moving at her usual speed—always faster than the posted limit, (Jeanne) spotted a donkey standing beside the road. She decided to slow and wait for it to cross in front of her rather than block its path. However, the donkey decided not to move and stared back at her. She shouted… “What is it about you mules that you never do what you’re supposed to do?”

Mayan Cook

Keeping her eye on the cook and the women who had been waiting with her in the living room for the weavers to make their evening appearance, Mandy spoke to a few of the weavers as they trailed Wanda into the room. “Well, ladies, I see you’ve had a long discussion about what you intend to do about the nearby clans. May I hear what it is, or do you intend to keep us all in suspense?”

A young woman, among the first to enter the room, said with quiet confidence, “We know what to do.” She seemed elated as she took a position behind Wanda and projected her approval of what had been decided.

Waiting for Wanda to approach her and the other elders, Mandy thought, ‘Wanda is truly doing great work with these women.’

The staff member who usually attended to Mandy’s needs when she visited the weavers’ compound approached and asked, “What can I do for you, Miss Mandy?” She was not standing directly in front of Mandy, but she blocked her view of the other room.

With a motion of her hand toward the next room, Mandy said, “I saw something just now flit through my peripheral vision. Can you see what it is?” She continued to wonder about it until her aide returned to her side.

“I find nothing, Miss Mandy,” she whispered.

Now on full alert, Mandy noticed that her assistant made no attempt to join the weavers or move closer to Wanda. Instead she moved away, even from the elders. ‘I wonder what she is into,’ thought Mandy.

Women at Door

Speaking to the backs of the girls and women gawking at the commotion outside the weavers’ studio, Wanda said, “We’re not going to stop and talk about what just happened! We’re going to work right through it!”

When the looms stopped moving, Wanda always acted as if she need only speak to get everyone weaving again, and it usually worked. Wanda pointed at a man standing outside, but within their line of vision. … “You’ll find out later that it isn’t something you have to live through...You’ll be amazed at how much work you get done while others idle—unwilling to get on with their lives.”

Excerpt 4, from Page 175—

Mexican Leopard Warrior

A tourist at the back of the room shouted, “Do you ever wonder about who is trying to get through to you when you channel?”

A gasp rose from some, while others tittered—a lot…The woman who was rude enough to interrupt Mandy in the middle of her lecture registered dismay. Her face changed hues from rose to ruby red as she attempted to speak out against her again, but she could only sputter. It was too late to hide her lack of enthusiasm and interest in what was being taught, so she said nothing more.

Smiling at everyone else, Mandy began to laugh, but stopped abruptly and said, “I think I may have overstepped my boundaries just now, but then again, this woman is indecent and not at all nice.”

Immediately a hush fell over the crowd, but a smiling man standing beside the intrusive student, apparently related to her in some way, yelled, “How’d you do that, Ms. Brown?”

Everyone’s attention was being drawn away from her planned lecture, so Mandy decided to let it fall apart and teach from her heart, which seemed to be bursting now. Pausing to take a deep breath, she started out softly. “I think it’s all about projection—something in a person’s mind that gives him or her the ability to accept what someone else says or thinks. I think your friend is deeply embarrassed now, but doesn’t regret what she said, so it lingers among us now, so that becomes our lesson for today. Anyone else see that—yet?”

Excerpt 5, from Page 282—

Bursting into the room, out of breath and smiling, Mandy appeared to be the only woman alive living a great life. Her face was radiant, which explained why they were feeling a bit down now. The agreement among them was that when one of the ‘partners’ needed more energy, they could draw from the others without warning, but they better have a very good reason for doing it! No longer afraid or dismayed or worried about her old age, Wanda felt young again—eager to find out what was going on and what would happen next.

The day ended without anyone in the compound seeing the three, but rumors circulated among the tribe that Mandy was seen driving through the village headed for home—and that news arrived hours ago. The question being bantered about the kitchen now was, “Why would Mandy change her itinerary and come back now?” No one ever figured out what Mandy would do next, but they loved to try.

Excerpt 6, from Page 169—

Wanda cried, “Don’t you see! This is a message from The Ancient Maya!”…Jeanne had the same image printed out and was holding it in her out-stretched hand...Stammering, she said, “How did you get that? Did you send this through e-mail?”

“No, Wanda, I didn’t. I got this vision while I was writing a new book about helping yourself enter meditation to do any work that requires a lot of concentration. It just popped up on the screen and I printed it off, without thinking about where it came from. I may have used up every drop of ink in my computer printing it out, too.…I guess we can ask Spirit what to do, but maybe we should just sit on it and wait to see what Mandy thinks, or see what happens with Julie?”

“That makes sense, Jeanne, but I’d like to be able to use this design right away to weave a blanket of some kind. Imagine going to bed every evening with this beautiful angel wing covering everything! It would transport everyone high above our usual dreamscape—make us all wise.”

“I don’t know, Wanda. I get the feeling it should be on the cover of my next book, but maybe it’s meant to be kept in a secret place and only shared with a few?”

Excerpt 7, from Page 296—

Did moving from compound-to-compound and town-to-town produce anything new? Usually it gave Mandy time to think about her life and how many she left behind who assumed they knew her—sure that she would return to them again….Some women expressed shock and dismay at the way she moved in, did her thing, and then left quickly. She did not stop and ask if they wanted anything from her, instead she gave what she had and left in a hurry. It made no sense to those who wished to remain sad or dwell outside a state of bliss, but it taught a different lesson to those who persisted in wishing to be what Mandy seemed to be—powerful, respected by men, not needing others...

Who benefits from free lessons in life? No one, if the message is believed to be unworthy. If you want to take a missionary stance and attempt to change the Maya on Earth today, you will find some will listen and buy into what you say, but most will not. Why? They, like you, cling to what they know. Americans are apt to believe that buying a lot sets you above those who don’t spend much or own a lot. Does that make sense when what you spend is borrowed money?...

...After examining their shoes and hairdos, some Americans insisted Mandy and her many friends gave up far too much, while others said they can’t be straight. Why? They claimed cash is out of style and never used by the rich and famous and said they can’t imagine how anyone can live like that now. When too many women descended in waves from the United States thinking that way, it became necessary to teach what The Ascended Maya advised as absolutely necessary to ascend within a group again.
